Is Izzie Stevens Coming Back To Grey’s Anatomy?

Could it be Katie Heigl (Izzie) or is it Isaiah Washington (Dr Burke)? Many fans have their money on Kate Walsh (Addison) or Kim Raver (Teddy Altman).

If you follow some of the many Grey’s Anatomy fans on Twitter and Facebook, which I do, it would seem as though the popular choice for many fans is having Izzie Stevens come back to the show. After reading a Grey’s Anatomy Wetpaint article the other night; most of the comments expressed the wish that Izzie Stevens should return.

While that would not sit well with me, many Grey’s Anatomy fans loved the character of Izzie Stevens and would dearly love to see Alex and Izzie reunite. Given the way Katherine Heigl left Grey’s in Season Six, I don’t see why on earth Shonda Rhimes would invite her back. Heigl dissed the show on many occasions and this was seen by many people as extremely unprofessional. Heigl has earned herself a reputation as a bit of a drama queen, however this is not necessarily a bad thing. When you think about it, it is a bonus for the fans and show biz gossip lovers like me; when an actor from my favourite TV programs has a whinge; I quite enjoy finding out about the gossip from behind the scenes and I am guessing every other celebrity writer and journalist love this too.

What I would enjoy is seeing her return to bust up Alex and Jo; now while I want Alex to be happy, I am not happy about the pairing with Jo Wilson, the intern. If Izzie is to return then my hope is that the actor is asked to stay on as a regular, because even though I don’t like the character of Izzie Stevens, I adore Alex Karev and Izzie was the love of his life. I also felt as though there was unfinished business between them when she left in Season Six. This is probably because she was supposed to return and then refused to honor her contract with ABC and asked to be let go. The irony of this is; had she returned to see out the rest of the season, Shonda Rhimes probably would have killed her off in the hospital shooting in the Season Six Finale; as that was when her contract was up.

It does look to me as though Alex and Jo will be together for at least most of Season 10; so this is why I do not think this mystery character is Izzie Stevens. In my last blog I speculated that it could be Dr Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington), Dr Addison Montgomery Riley (Kate Walsh), Dr Teddy Altman (Kim Raver), and Izzie Stevens (Katie Heigl). I did not consider that it might be someone who had a recurring role. Dr Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsene) or Dr Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith) and when I think about all the recurring stars that have been on Grey’s Anatomy, well it could be just about anyone.

In his interview with Huffington Post, Kevin McKidd made it crystal clear that it was not going to be a ghost; so it will not be anyone who has died. Although there was talk on Twitter awhile ago about T R Knight reprising his role as George O’Malley and they could go down the road of mistaken identity and George was never hit by a bus in the first place. In fact a friend of mine on Twitter recently wrote some awesome fan fiction on how Shonda Rhimes could tell that story.

If it does happen to be Izzie Stevens who returns as the mystery person who has come back to stir up trouble, then it will probably make a good story but if I could choose I would love Isaiah Washington to return and reprise his role as Dr Burke, as I totally loved the character of Preston Burke and Isaiah Washington is one hell of an actor.

So, what do you think Grey’s fans? Is Dr Izzie Stevens returning to shake things up with Jolex? Hit the comments and have your say.

Who Is The Mystery Character Returning To Grey's Anatomy?

Recently Kevin McKidd spilled that a mystery character from the past will return to Grey's Anatomy in Episode 8 of Season 10. This secret and previous character on Grey's will be a big part of the Winter Hiatus cliffhanger. Who do you think it is?

Below are the questions Huffington Post recently put to McKidd.

Huff Post: "Any details about Episode 8?"

McKidd: "They say there's a big build-up to a pretty amazing cliffhanger for the 12th episode before we take our hiatus. A key character comes back in Episode 8 that plays into the cliffhanger in Episode 12."

Huff Post: "Key character -- you mean someone from "Grey's" past?"
"Yep. "Grey's" past-slash-present. Comes back. That's all I'm saying ... no ghosts though! [Laughs.]"

Pretty short and sweet, but this about covers what Kevin McKidd has to say about this returning character. The interview can be read here.

So who are you laying bets on to return? It certainly will not be anyone who has deceased, as the ghost story never went down too well. But for those characters still living who have left the show, it leaves the door open for a few to return.

I am also betting that many fans would love to see Izzie ride into town and steal Alex away from Jo. But, this would not float my boat, not unless she was planning on staying for a while. And didn't Katie Heigl just get signed to do a new TV series somewhere? I loved Izzie in the early days, however this character became annoying right about the time she slept with George.

While I would adore seeing Isaiah Washington back as Dr Burke, I doubt this will happen. My bet is that it might be Kim Raver or Kate Walsh, and seeing either one of these ladies back on my screen would be pretty awesome. Sandra Oh and Kim Raver had great chemistry and it would be good to see Cristina Yang and Teddy Altman in action again. That being said; this would not sit too well with the Crowen shippers. While my gut says Teddy, it could also be Addison and this would be great too. Many Grey's fans love Kate Walsh.

So hit the comments or connect with me on Facebook or Twitter and tell me what you all think about this secret and mysterious character. I gotta be honest here, this news has made me even more excited for Season 10 and I did not think that was possible as I am going crazy waiting as it is.

Shonda Rhimes Messes Up; Richard Webber Is Alive

Well; Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Grey's Anatomy and well known for keeping the storylines in that show a secret has seriously stuffed up.

She recently posted a photo to her WhoSay account of the table read for the 200th episode, in which we can see James Pickens Jnr, who plays Dr Richard Webber sitting alongside Sara Ramirez and Chandra Wilson who play Dr Callie Torres and Dr Miranda Bailey respectively.

At the close of Season 9, we saw Dr Webber lying on the floor in the basement, after going down there to turn the power back on. However, it seems from what fans saw that he had been electrocuted and was unconscious. Many fans were sure that Richard had died. And given how often Shonda has killed characters off on Grey's Anatomy, no one would have been surprised not to see James Pickens Jnr returning next season, even though he has a contract until Season 10 like the other original stars.

Anyway having realised what she had done, she deleted the photo and tweeted “CRAP.” It was too late however, as several tabloid sites managed to screen shot the photo. Now some fans are wondering if she did it on purpose to throw people off the trail, as she did say after Season 9 in the interviews that fans would see the actor in Season 10. And if this is the case, then why delete the photo and tweet the word; crap?

The cast photo and twitter screen shots are below:

So what do you all make of this? Did she stuff up or is it a teaser, and he really is dead. Perhaps the actor is there to do a flashback scene. I don't think so, or why would she have deleted the photo? Unless the woman is really that manipulative. She's a fantastic writer and story teller, but seriously, she does manipulate the fans and seems to enjoy it.

Sandra Oh Shares Her Feelings About Leaving Grey's Anatomy

Fans are still trying to get their head around the fact that after Season 10 of Grey's Anatomy they will not be seeing Cristina Yang running around Grey Sloan Memorial terrorizing interns or firing her snarky comments at everyone. The character of Cristina Yang is for me, one of the most well written TV characters that I have ever had the pleasure to watch. It also seems clear that Sandra Oh is having a tough time with her decision to leave. It is understandable that you would feel very emotional about leaving behind a show and character that you have portrayed for the last ten years.

Sandra Oh told the Hollywood Reporter: "Letting go of such a huge part of my life, I want to cry right now, Grey's has been the most important role of my life. Learning the rare opportunity of what it is to work on one project for 10 years — that's like being married in television years for like a thousand years."

Sandra Officially Leaves After Season 10

Sandra is not leaving immediately as her contract does not end until May, which means she will be on Grey's Anatomy as Cristina Yang for another twenty-four episode. Sandra is hoping that her character is not killed off, so the story is left open for her to return. She has expressed her desire to be a part of the Series Finale. Let's face it; Cristina Yang has been through some rough stuff during her ten years on the show and a happy ending for her seems fitting.

Sandra has said "I want this to be a celebration, I want us to get to that point where we see this character ride off into the sunset. Playing Cristina and growing her and growing myself in her, I want to usher her into the next section of her life in the best way possible. It's got to be Cristina Yang's happily-ever-after."

Sandra Hopes to Return for the Series Finale

I don't think this is the last time we will see Cristina. If she is open to guest starring for an episode here and there, I think Shonda Rhimes would jump at the chance, and an appearance now and then would boost the ratings as Sandra Oh has a huge following. Should Sandra be invited back for the Series Finale, she has stated: "There's no way that no one could keep me away from that and in the meantime, I'm just going to focus on every single day. I just can't think about [leaving] right now."

Sandra Oh also revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that she will most likely keep Cristina Yangs id tags and stethoscope as a reminder of her most important acting role. She went on to say that "In 10 or 20 years, when I'm lounging around in my muumuu with a martini, I'm going to watch Grey's Anatomy from the pilot to whenever it ends, and I'm going to enjoy myself thoroughly and enjoy seeing all those moments and being able to see it with a new perspective."

So Grey's fans; what do you all think of Sandra's statement. It sounds like it was a very hard decision for her to make, but I essentially feel that she has made the right one for her career. As disappointed as I feel that my favourite Grey's character is leaving, I wish her the very best and will be keeping track of what she's up to in her career. I really hope that we see her in something great soon.

Tell me your opinion on this news, do you think Grey's will suffer with the loss of Sandra Oh? I personally think the show would suffer more if Ellen or Patrick left, however, Sandra Oh has many fans, and she and Grey's Anatomy were trending on Twitter last night.

Sandra Oh Is Leaving Grey's Anatomy

What Will Grey+Sloan Memorial Be Like Without Cristina Yang?

Well it's happened; I don't think anyone expected to hear this news so soon, but what we all feared about original cast members leaving has come to light today via the Hollywood Reporter and other online news services.

Sandra Oh will be hanging up her stethoscope at the end of Season 10. An emotional Sandra broke the news to her cast mates at the table read for the 200th episode and shortly after that she released the news to the media.

Sandra Oh has also told Shonda Rhimes that she would love to return and be a part of the series final, so it is hoped that Rhimes will not kill off the character. I for one, will be furious if she does. Shondaland Source wrote earlier today that; "Paul Lee at ABC TV did warn us, he did say that some originals had mentioned wanting to move on."  I am not surprised by this news, but I am questioning whether I can watch Grey's without Cristina Yang. Sandra Oh is by far, the most talented actress on the show and one of the reasons I watch every week, so while it will be terrible to see her leave, the actress wants to pursue other options. I have no doubt that Sandra will have her pick of job offers, given her remarkable talent. It is likely however; that she may return to theatre acting.

Chandra Wilson has also done a lot of theatre work too, and it would not surprise me to see her leave after ten seasons too, anyway I hope not. In-fact I really think the more original cast they can keep on the show, the better the show will do in the ratings. They really should bring Kate Walsh back as a recurring star or perhaps she could be a regular. And she can bring that handsome husband of hers too; Jake from Private Practice is a hottie.

Anyway back to Sandra Oh's departure. Kevin McKidd has been asked to stay on, so this obviously means they are not going to reconcile their marriage. While that is sad for the couple, it's likely the best thing from the point of view of the story. This couple were written into a corner, and neither one of them are able to give up their respective dreams. Cristina knew this at the end of Season 9, when she cut Owen loose to chase his dream and find true happiness. So it would seem that Cristina will leave Seattle on her own and hopefully this will leave the door open for her to return once in a while. She did say she wanted in on the Series Final, so who knows, Shonda might be able to get her to guest star, like she did with Kate Walsh, even after Kate left to do Shonda's other show: Private Practice.

Sandra Oh has had an interesting run playing the role of Cristina and what a fabulous role it is, the character of Cristina Yang would have to be one of the best characters ever created for a TV show. Sandra's amazing talent of being able to portray emotional scenes and pull of the comedy when needed just blows the mind. It makes a blogger and Grey's Anatomy fan wonder just who will bring the funny and snarky comments in Season 11? That will depend also on whether I watch after Season 10. In all honesty, I am not sure that I will be able to watch Grey's without Cristina. It just won't be the same.

So Grey's Addicts; what do you think about this? Are you worried that more cast members will leave? Do you think Grey's will still be great without the character of Cristina Yang? I will tell you one thing, my DVD's will be getting one Hell of a work out after Season 10 is finished.
